SOURCEGRAPH / Developer tools / Partner since 2021
A five-year creative partnership with Sourcegraph. Building visual systems behind one of the most ambitious developer tools companies in the world.
Sourcegraph builds AI-powered code intelligence tools for developers and engineering teams, helping them search, understand, and improve large codebases at any scale. Their platform is used by some of the largest engineering organizations in the world.
We started working with Sourcegraph in 2021 with a brand audit that became their first official brand guide. Since then the partnership has spanned two distinct brand eras, a product spin-off, and a complete internal rebrand. Through all of it we've stayed close, adapted to what the brand needed, and kept showing up as a trusted extension of their team.

2025 / Adapting to what came next
Following the internally-led rebrand, we developed a new illustration strategy and visual style. Applied across marketing campaigns, animations, ads, reports, ebooks, and event collateral.
2022 / The illustration system
A custom illustration style built from strategy. The visual language for product storytelling across marketing, launches, and campaigns.
2021 / Building the foundation
Logo refinement, brand guidelines, icon system, trade show booths, swag, blog templates, homepage illustrations, ebooks, marketing assets.
2025 / Adapting to what came next
Sourcegraph's internal team built an entirely new brand system. We didn't lead that work. But when it was done, they asked us to take the front seat on art direction for the new illustration strategy. Four years of being their partner meant they knew we would deliver
Sourcegraph had evolved from a developer search tool into the infrastructure that helps engineering teams and AI work together. The illustration style needed to reflect that shift. We landed on Protocol Aesthetics: confidence in communication. Continuous linework, strict grids, diagrams that feel like modernized technical specifications. Minimal and disciplined. Technical but stylish.
We then developed core concept illustrations, value graphics, and campaign assets across ads, reports, blog graphics, and event collateral. The work lives in Sourcegraph's Core Brand Figma, ready to be extended as the brand evolves.
Grafik feels like an extension of our own internal team. They are fully engaged in our brand and project timelines, accessible, and transparent at every stage. We know we can count on Grafik's team to produce quality work on time, every time.

2022 / The illustration system
Sourcegraph needed a way to make complex developer concepts feel human and legible to a technical audience that had seen every tired SaaS visual cliché.
We built a custom illustration system from the ground up. Technical precision balanced with warmth. Simplicity balanced with specificity. It became the visual language Sourcegraph used across marketing, product launches, blog posts, ebooks, and campaigns.
2021 / Building the foundation
It started with the infrastructure that makes a brand actually function. Guidelines, systems, and assets that let a team move quickly without losing coherence.
We refined the existing logo. Built their first brand guide. Established a custom icon style, blog templates, and swag that felt genuinely on-brand. Designed trade show booths, ads, and ebooks. Became the studio their team called when something needed to be made well and made fast.
By the end of that first year, we weren't a vendor. We were part of the team.
